Message A properly rebuilt engine or turbo should last just as long as a stock original engine under the same stock conditions. Keyword here is "properly". You cannot skimp on details such as tolerances or tightening torques.
Turbos can be a different beast, just by design though. Much much simpler to rebuild. In comparison to an engine, it has very few parts.
